When they came to Canmore, AB around 2007, My girlfriend and I had them over for pancakes and joints on our deck the morning after we saw them in Canmore in 2007. I still have the CD they gave us with this song and the instructions on how to make a muck bucket bass. They were such great fun to hang with and amazing musicians. Since I first heard them play this I've always loved this song!

I saw AG playing at a small venue in Duncan, BC, back in the 90s. The very next day I saw him again in the washroom on the Vancouver-bound ferry. I called out his name, and he seemed surprised at being recognized.

What a great version...and his solo in Midnight At The Oasis is wonderful. A piece of trivia: Amos Garrett is the man who gave Danny Gatton the nickname The Humbler.

Such a great song. John Dee Graham is just tremendous live like this. With his band, too, at the Continental Club in Austin. Amazing songwriter.

Have very fond memories of seeing Spirit of the West at Murphy's Irish Pub in Seattle back in the 80's not long after I moved here. Hope to do my own Crawl to Deep Cove in a few months!

Such an amazing guitarist and magical tune. I didn't know it at the time, but I saw Maria Muldaur at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London in 1975. Guess who her guitarist was...Yep Amos Garrett. His solo on Midnight at the Oasis is also epic.

Its incredible how, if you didnt know this was a John Prine song, you would immediately and absolutely believe it was a John K original. its the little things, like the food yelling at him and the impromptu jam he starts up with the clock and the train tracks (anthropomorphizing inanimatelm objects is one of John K's fave lyrical devices). Grear song great cover.
